Tuna Onigiri with Ume Shiso Furikake

Onigiri are the perfect fun-sized snack to enjoy at home or on the go. Be as creative as you’d like with the filling; the possibilities are endless. Be sure to dip the edges with a generous amount of Ume Shiso Furikake for an extra layer of flavor!
Ingredients
- 2 bowls cooked short grain rice
- Salt as needed (start with 1⁄2 teaspoon)
- roasted seaweed, cut into thick strips

2 tablespoons Ume Shiso Furikake
- 5 ounces canned tuna, drained
- 3 tablespoons Japanese mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
Filling
Directions
- Cook rice based on package instructions and keep covered to prevent it from getting cold.
- In a bowl, add tuna, mayo, and soy sauce. Mix well and set aside.
- In separate containers, set aside cut seaweed, water, and salt. seaweed and set aside.
- Dip your palms in water and a bit of salt. Rub palms together.
- Add a scoop of rice into palm. Using fingertips, create indent in the center and add a small scoop of tuna. Repeat with another scoop of rice. Seal and press firmly to make it a triangular shape. Add a slice of seaweed on the bottom (rough side towards rice).
- Roll edges with Ume Shiso Furikake. Repeat for the rest of the rice. Enjoy!
So delicious!! We sometimes will add Sesame Oil to the tuna if we have it on hand!
