A seemingly simple side dish that packs a punch of flavor, these Wok Fried Snow Peas are quick to make and even easier to gobble up. It’s not always easy to add depth to vegetables when you are in a time crunch, but a sprinkle of Umami Garlic-Onion Sea Salt does wonders to add flavor and umami richness to just about anything. Serve these with rice and your favorite protein (I love tofu!).

Ingredients

  • 10oz (300g) snow peas
  • 5 green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon  Oaktown Spice Shop Umami Garlic Onion Sea Salt
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • Sesame seeds, to serve

Directions

  1. Trim the ends of the snow peas and remove the strings. Trim the roots and dark green tops of the green onions. Cut into 2-inch pieces.
  2. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the sesame oil, Oaktown Spice Shop Umami Garlic-Onion Sea Salt, maple syrup, and rice vinegar. Set aside.

  3. Heat the avocado oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and ginger, frying for one minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the snow peas and green onions, tossing to coat the vegetables with the oil. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes until they begin to brown.
  5. Pour the sauce over the vegetables and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and top with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
