Celebrate Lunar New Year with Spices!

It's the Year of the Dog! We have some great ideas for celebrating Lunar New Year.

Chicken Cilantro Wontons with Szechuan Red Chili Oil

Recipe: Chicken Cilantro Dumplings with Szechuan-Style Red Chili Oil

This recipe is Oaktown Spice Shop’s take on a classic Szechuan Style dish “Hong You Chao Shou” (红油抄手), or wontons dressed in a red chili oil sauce. Its name translates directly to “folded arms in chili oil,” which refers to the signature fold of the wontons and their savory chili oil sauce.

We paired the chili oil with chicken cilantro wontons. For a vegetarian or vegan option, you can try crumbled stir-fried tofu in lieu of ground chicken.

Chinese Duo Gift Set

This two-jar gift box gives includes our Chinese Five Spice and Urumqi Lamb Rub blends. Chinese Five Spice is a traditional Chinese blend of five spices: fennel, cinnamon, star anise, Szechuan pepper and cloves.

Urumqi Lamb and Goat Rub combines the flavors of Northwestern China with strong cumin flavor, garlic and peppery heat. It's also great on roasted vegetables.

The set comes with recipes for Urumqi Lamb or Japanese Eggplant Skewers and Stir-Fried Noodles with Chinese Five Spice Sausage.
