The Grand Lake Shaker at Oakland's favorite all-day cafe, Grand Lake Kitchen, is a savory alternative to the classic Bloody Mary. Pairing gin infused with Oaktown Spice Shop's Grand Lake Shake with lime, Campari and elderflower liqueur, the Grand Lake Shaker will be your new favorite brunch cocktail.

Ingredients

    • 1/8 cup Oaktown Spice Shop Grand Lake Shake

    • 1 liter gin

    • 2 ounces Grand Lake Shake infused gin

    • 1 oz lime juice

    • ¼ ounce Campari

    • ¾ ounce elderflower liqueur

    • Oaktown Spice Shop Chile Limón for rim (optional)

      1. Pour the 1/8 cup Grand Lake Shake into a coffee filter. Tie it up so no spice can leak out. Add it to 1 liter of gin and leave somewhere warm to steep for at least 24 hours.

      1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled glass filled with ice and rimmed with Chile Limón. Garnish with a pickle skewer.

        Hi Amy,
        What I would recommend is that you purchase some quality empty teabags. Ones that wont tear or rip during the shake. You can fill it with about 1/4 to probably 1/2 a teaspoon of the spice (up to how strongly you want the flavors to come through). And then drop that in your shaker and have at it. I would air on the side of 1/2 or more since a huge part of the process is the sitting for 24 hrs. However, it should still be tasty.

        Hi Amy,

        A rounded 1/4 teaspoon of Grand Lake Shake should be enough to infuse 2oz of gin! I’m not sure that this quantity of spice will diffuse well through so much paper, so I would consider putting it directly in the gin, and then pouring the mixture through the coffee filter into the shaker after 24 hours.
