3 cups all purpose flour
1 package instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon Erbe Italiane Di Lusso
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large egg
Herbed Garlic Butter
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 teaspoons Erbe Italiane Di Lusso
¼ teaspoon salt
In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, Erbe Italiane Di Lusso, garlic powder, and salt.
Attach the dough hook on the stand mixer, and add the water, olive oil, and egg. Knead for 4-5 minutes, until a smooth dough forms.
Cover with a damp, clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled. Line two large baking trays with parchment paper.
Once the dough has doubled, transfer to a lightly floured surface. Divide into 12 small pieces. Roll each piece into an 8-inch rope, and tie into a knot. Place on the lined baking trays.
Cover the knots with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400F. Combine the melted butter, garlic, remaining Erbe Italiane Di Lusso, and salt in a bowl.
Use a pastry brush to generously brush the butter mixture onto the knots. Reserve half of the mixture.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with the remaining butter mixture.
