Sorry to disagree about the virgin olive oil. That would add flavor to the paste that I think would compete with the nuance of all the spices. I would suggest any sort of healthy non-flavorful oil. Grapeseed does sound good to me. The honey is a preservative and I think it’s important to remember that.
Curious why Erika suggested Olive Oil. Maybe I’m missing something.
I will be serving Oaktown Spice Golden Milk at my Health & Hiking Poles Weekend Retreat at Point Reyes. It’s a healthy way to start the day!
I mix the paste with 2/3 water and 1/3 Calafia Farms Toasted Coconut Milk and it’s YUMMY. -

Finally made the trip to Oaktown Spice in Albany. Such a great shop. Tried the Golden Milk this morning, probably breaking all sorts of rules, but I frothed it all together like a latte and it was lovely!

Hi Jo Ann,
Thanks for the kind words about our shop! I would suggest substituting virgin olive oil for the coconut oil. Enjoy! -

Yesterday was my first time to walk in your shop. The lady was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Aside from what I went in for, I found this Golden Milk blend. The cashier gave me a recipe card. I just noticed when I got home that it has coconut oil. Is there something else I can substitute for the coconut oil to make this paste? Olive oil, grape seed oil, butter? I hope you can help. I am looking forward to making this. Thank you.
Received my order of Oaktown Spice Golden Milk mix today. I’ve never tasted Golden milk so I prepared it as instructed and it’s delicious!!
