May 4th: Bernal Cutlery Knife Sharpening and Demo (Albany)

We're toasting Bernal Cutlery's 14+1 anniversary (14th in San Francisco and 1st in Oakland) with a special collaboration and two fabulous pop-ups featuring the experts of this Bay Area institution.

Come learn about the process and technique of whetstone sharpening from the expert Bernal Cutlery crew! They will have sharpening starter kits for sale and will also be taking drop-offs for sharpening (to be picked up at a later date at Bernal Cutlery's Oakland Shop).

Bernal Cutlery opened for business in 2005 and specializes in all things knife related. Using time-honored Japanese Whetstone grinding techniques—and finishing by hand with a modified version of an old fashioned Barber’s strop—it offers peerless sharpening services, as well as very high caliber new knives, collectable and vintage models, classes in care and sharpening as well as hosting sessions on knife skills.

When: May 4th, 11am-5pm

Where: Oaktown Spice Shop, 1224 Solano Ave., Albany
