About the instructor:
John Beaver has been working with spices since he was a teenager, where he got his start at The Spice House in Milwaukee. He discovered early on what a difference the right seasonings make in the outcome of a dish, and since then he has honed his skills in all aspects of the spice trade. Following his passion for cooking and high-quality ingredients, John opened Oaktown Spice Shop with his business partner and wife, Erica Perez, in 2011. Since then the business has grown to include a second retail location and provides countless restaurants, caterers, brewers and other food makers in the Bay Area and beyond with spices, salts, herbs, and botanicals. In addition, John is the caretaker for an impressive chile garden where he is always planting new varieties and tweaking his tried and true recipes.
